A Few Things to Know About Nose Piercings!

nose 2 005

I recently got my nose pierced ,something I have wanted to do for quite some time now but always kept it off. This is my summer of actions speaking louder than words so I decided to get whilst out shopping with my mom and a friend. We went into a nearby Cambodian market place and had it done for only $10! haha talk about crazy! The whole procedure was quick safe and almost painless! Therefore, I decided to post some advice to help guide those considering the notion of a nose piercing from the basics to a little more personal tips.

1. Types of Nose piercings!

2. They really doesn’t hurt as much as you would think. Actually if you go in with the mentality that it is going to hurt like a *bleep* then you’re expectations will be disappointed so maybe its better to go in fear of the pain.

3. The healing process takes a week and a couple days max to completely heal after which you may switch out the piercings with studs or rings of your choosing. Cleaning the area around the piercing with hydrogen peroxide should help!

4. Best places to go get a nose piercing are tattoo parlors or at your city’s mall.

5. Place to buy nose jewelry: Piercing Pagoda (located in the mall), Hot topic, Claire’s, etc. I would not recommend Ebay or Amazon because given the chance that the jewelry irritates your piercing, it is a lot harder to cover up because its right smack dab on your face! Save yourself the complications and take the safer route.

4th of July inspired mani!

I wish all those who celebrate the fourth of  July, a wonderful and safe independence day! Here are the designs that I painted my nails. I used the N.Y.Color nail polishes in the colors Red Velvet Rope (red) and French Tip (white). The blue color is from Sally’s Beauty Supply Store. Keep in mind that I did these by myself and  I am no professional haha.

D.i.y rings holder out of a nail polish cap!

After my recent jewelry purchase, I found myself struggling with finding a place to put my jewelry. As for now, I don’t have a big jewelry nor do I plan to get one soon but I still want to display my jewelry in a pleasing manner! This where I started fumbling around for anything that looked like it would be the most functional. I started with my rings because I have a fewer number of them but still had no luck, until I tried putting them on a empty nail polish bottle. Here is what I came up with.

What you will need:

1. A makeup sample cup ( Avail. at Sephora,  M.A.C and Bare Minerals stores for free).

2. Super glue.

3. Empty / unwanted nail polish bottles.

4. Scrap paper.

5. Rings.

Step 1: Take the nail polish brush out of its place in the nail polish cap using a piece of paper and a wiggling motion.

Step 2: Place super glue to the rim of the nail polish cap, let it sit for 15 seconds then place it on top of the sample cup cover.

Step 3: Gently press the nail polish cap onto the sample cup cover and hold for 1 minute to let the glue dry in place.

Step 4: Let the rings holder sit for fie minutes with a fan running overhead or just place it on a window sill with the window open.

Next you want to test to see if the glue has completely dried by placing a ring on the holder then taking it off. If there is no glue that comes off with the ring then it is dry, if not then let it sit until it has dried.

If you do try this, please send me pictures either on my twitter  or instagram with the handle @tabithamajwega.

I really had fun making this holder and I hope you enjoyed it!
