A Few Things to Know About Nose Piercings!

nose 2 005

I recently got my nose pierced ,something I have wanted to do for quite some time now but always kept it off. This is my summer of actions speaking louder than words so I decided to get whilst out shopping with my mom and a friend. We went into a nearby Cambodian market place and had it done for only $10! haha talk about crazy! The whole procedure was quick safe and almost painless! Therefore, I decided to post some advice to help guide those considering the notion of a nose piercing from the basics to a little more personal tips.

1. Types of Nose piercings!

2. They really doesn’t hurt as much as you would think. Actually if you go in with the mentality that it is going to hurt like a *bleep* then you’re expectations will be disappointed so maybe its better to go in fear of the pain.

3. The healing process takes a week and a couple days max to completely heal after which you may switch out the piercings with studs or rings of your choosing. Cleaning the area around the piercing with hydrogen peroxide should help!

4. Best places to go get a nose piercing are tattoo parlors or at your city’s mall.

5. Place to buy nose jewelry: Piercing Pagoda (located in the mall), Hot topic, Claire’s, etc. I would not recommend Ebay or Amazon because given the chance that the jewelry irritates your piercing, it is a lot harder to cover up because its right smack dab on your face! Save yourself the complications and take the safer route.

4 New Years Eve looks Featuring My Favorite Items of 2013!

Just like that 2013 has come and gone. I started this blog four days after we set into 2013! I was so eager, so driven to just put my work out into the world and let whoever came along to see be the critic of it all. As I sit here in my cheetah print bath robe and 40 degree room listening to “Dj got us falling in love again” by Neyo, I cant help but think that I have loved and continue every moment of this blog and whatever comes with it. Today, I have four New Years Eve looks that I would like share with you and help you gain some inspo from. Each contains a few of my absolute favorite pieces that 2013 gave me.

Look 1: Elegant New Years Eve Party for 200, Alex.

Untitled #140

This look has my favorite item of all time, the leather jacket y’all! I’m sucker for a good leather jacket. Its usually pretty cold on New Years so a leather jacket does the trick of keeping you warm while still looking tres chic!

Look 2: There’s a party on 3rd street, dressy casual only!

Casual new years

Look number dos is for the more casual dressy look with loafers replacing heels and a little less on the glam and more on the comfortably stylish scenario. The Alien perfume by Thierry Mugler is my holy grail perfume! Its strong and intimidating while staying true to its feminine and inviting side. Haha, make sense? A leather jacket is a must again to tie the whole look together along with a cross body purse for a hands free experience!

Look 3: Ringing in the New Year at the beach with a few good friends.

casual chilling with friends new years eve look

What’s better than an elegant NYE party at the Chateau Palace? Nothing! But the beach comes in a very close second just add a few really good friends, maybe a drink or two and a little firework action and you’ve got the Chateau palace beat! 😉 Oversized sweaters, boyfriend jeans and booties are all that Ive beening leaving in this year! They combine trend, comfort and a tumblr- esque feel that seals the deal for me! *kisses fingers into the air and whispers “Magnifique!” to self*

Look 4: Oh Sh*t, Is It New Years again?

Untitled #143

Don’t you hate it when a holiday creeps up on you and you not prepared whatsoever?! Yeah I feel ya girl! I have just the cure however, a cheesy romance movie that contains all your favorite actors, take out and some Au naturale living should do it. Kick on back, its just another day 😉

Make lots of noise and kiss lots of boys… or girls if that’s what you’re into 😉 Have a fantastic New Years Eve and New Years angels!

Change is good

Throwback to Prom (I’m in the purple gown)!

Yesterday my sister sent me this picture that showed a few of my friends and I at my high school prom. Approximately 6 months ago is when this picture was taken and the amount of change I have undergone since then is tremendous. Its a warm feeling when you begin to really see yourself change in front of your eyes by the way I talk, my perspective on certain things, my vernacular, etc. I mean people tell you that the time from your high school graduation to your first year in college is going to be the most challenging and significant process ever! But do we really believe them? Or at least I didn’t! I guess it comes with the territory of being a true Virgo, I have to experience something to fully see where people are coming from with their advice. The person in this picture is so eager for the coming months, a little naive and just sick of the past 4 years. I am still eager for my future although the reason for my eagerness has more a legitimate significance behind it, the sense of naive-ness (I’m not an English major, can you tell?) has definitely faded down and I am embracing the nest four years with a bear hug! My first semester is coming to a close (only two more weeks left!) and with it, comes a new page in the novel of my life. I look forward to sharing just a bit more with you all and getting back to doing what I love, talking fashion and beauty!

Happy Holidays!

hh 010hh 028hh 019Image

This week’s nails of the week is nails in the color Beverly hills by Sinful colors. The color goes on great and only requires two or three coats to get a marble finish. I bought mine at my local Walgreens for only $1.99 and I never regretted it!

What are you wearing on your nails this week?

My Summer Makeup Routine!

While I try to go as long as I can without wearing makeup in the summer time, I do indulge myself for nights out and other summer events.

I like to start off with a fresh face and my Cetaphil moisturizer. Next, I have been using the Bare Minerals primer ( a little goes LONG way), then my Maybelline BB Cream as a sunscreen and base because I’ve found that putting it on my face before of my other makeup keeps my face protected longer.

Dabbing small pea sized amounts of my Sephora Concealer, I begin to cover up my acne scars. This concealer lives up to its praising reviews. Its light but covers immensely!

While most people prefer to use to stop there, I apply a light stroke of the M.A.C studio finish powder foundation to keep my face matte and to even out my face. From there, I dust my Rimmel London bronzer on top of my cheekbones as a highlighter then apply some more along my jaw line, neck and ears.

My Maybelline Red revolution lip stick goes a long way in my makeup routine, working as both a blush and lip tint. I dab the lip stick on my cheeks then blend away with my ring finger for a flushed look. I use the same technique for my lips, lightly dabbing the lip stick on my lips for the perfect tint then blending it into my lips and finishing off with a lip balm (Sugar Lip balm).

For a natural look, I use my Forever 21 curler then swipe on my Benefit They’re Real Mascara.

That’s it!

What are some essentials in your summer makeup routine?
